6 tips for Choosing your Post-surgery Bra
When it comes to choosing your explant bra, there are 6 things you should consider to help make your healing experience the best that it

My journey began with me finally admitting what I had been trying to hide for 3 years – that I hated my implants. I got them when I was single and insecure about being saggy and deflated after breastfeeding, and I wanted to feel confident about my body again.

What I didn’t realize is that I would trade one insecurity for another.
I went from trying to hide that I wasn’t perky, to trying to hide how huge I was with implants and how awkward it felt to me. I was against getting a breast lift at the time because I was afraid of the scarring. It became a decision I would hugely regret.
Along with insecurities, I also started to have health issues.
About a year after my implant surgery, my health started to decline. I didn’t recognize who I was anymore. I used to be full of energy and motivation and took everything head on, but soon I couldn’t even have a shower without having to rest after.
I was exhausted all the time and felt tired even after 8-9 hours of sleep. I was constantly having difficulty breathing and could never seem to catch a full breath. Drastic joint aches off and on, anxiety and depression.

When I began researching breast implant removal, I started seeing websites and Facebook groups about Breast Implant Illness (BII) and couldn’t believe what I was reading.
I read about people who were sick and had common symptoms, ranging from chronic fatigue, to auto immune responses and much more. When I read a list of common BII symptoms I discovered all the things I had been feeling were on the list.
It was time for them to come out.
As I have gone through my explant journey, I have been sharing my experiences, tips and stories through posts so that you know what you can expect from your journey, and to hopefully make your experience easier.
It’s also my goal to give you a resource of items that I (and other women) recommend for pre or post-surgery, healing, and more, to make your journey the best it can be.
You can read the full story on my decision to remove my implants here. For packing tips and a printable packing list, reviews on post-surgery bras and more, check out my other posts here.
We may all be in different parts of the world and have different stories, but when we know we’re not alone and when we can help each other through it, it makes all the difference!
